Dihad Conference 2025 - From Inside

A lifeline that every suffering person needs. How does a person surrounded by crises find their lifeline? How can a person who lives in a place full of conflicts be reassured?

Where is the relief? Where is the peace?

We dream of peace, for every person to have their own house in which to take shelter, to find something to eat and drink, to find a shelter that will save them from constant destruction.

That is why, since 2004, the Dihad Conference has been held annually to assist every person in need.

To create a better world and reduce conflicts and wars, to provide relief to every human being, extend a lifeline to them, and lift them out of the ongoing conflicts.

What Does the Dihad Conference Aim To Achieve in 2025?

With Dihad 2025 being held under the theme In a Polarized World: Humanitarian Principles First, this year's goals were deeper, more comprehensive, and more urgent than ever before.

The conference aimed to develop and facilitate the funding process, given the recent lack of funding.

Members also discussed current global issues, including the challenges faced by developing countries and those experiencing wars and conflicts, to find practical solutions that promote peace between nations and mitigate the damage caused by these conflicts.

The conference was attended by more than 60,000 participants, and the issues discussed below were discussed.

The Development Humanitarian Aid Interface

Many people and organizations are uncertain about whether to assist countries in need and provide them with the necessary resources.

Or should we focus on implementing sustainable development from now on?

We must combine the two, focusing on implementing sustainable development and not delaying our humanitarian role towards people living in conflict.

This is to respond to emergencies, save lives, and ultimately improve the quality of life.

This can be achieved by designing humanitarian projects that take development into account from the outset, supporting education, job opportunities, and women's empowerment, even in crisis contexts, and involving local communities in solutions, rather than viewing them as mere recipients of aid.

The most important solutions proposed at the Dihad 2025 conference include the need for joint and coordinated funding between relief and development efforts, activating the role of local actors as a bridge between the two phases, and establishing flexible response systems that are suitable for both emergencies and development.

Globalization and Localization: New Actors

Globalization refers to the integration of countries' economies into a single global economy, with stronger countries exerting greater control over the economies of weaker countries.

Localization, on the other hand, means giving a greater role to local organizations and entities within the country.

But what do globalization and localization mean in the field of humanitarian work?

It means that problems are no longer solely local, but rather their impact has become global, especially problems related to the lack of sustainable development in countries.

Solving the problems facing any country does not mean that solutions will only come from that country; rather, aid can come from another country or even another continent.

However, local entities reach people faster, communicate with people, and solve their problems in more appropriate ways. Therefore, the Dihad 2025 Conference is focused on integrating globalization and localization in humanitarian work so that we can address problems more quickly.

Sustainable Development and Its Role in Global Relief

It has become clear that humanitarian crises cannot be addressed separately from issues of poverty, education, health, and climate, as they are all interconnected.

Hence, the role of sustainable development has emerged as the cornerstone of any effective and comprehensive humanitarian response.

Relief is no longer merely an emergency response, it is linked to achieving development goals that pave the way for a more stable and just future.

This is because if problems arise in one country and citizens are forced to flee to other countries, this places significant pressure on the state, but at the same time, they must be protected and provided with relief.

Therefore, the ideal solution is to link sustainable development with humanitarian relief, finance sustainable projects, and provide relief to citizens through organizations responsible for providing relief.

Dihad 2025 proposed several solutions:

  • Expanding the concept of relief to include sustainable solutions.
  • Involving the private sector and civil society in achieving development.
  • Calling for smart financing that serves both urgent and future needs.
  • Enhancing the role of technology and innovation in long-term humanitarian projects.

The Relationship Between Population Displacement and the Economy of Countries

Population displacement is the movement of large groups of people, either internally within the same country or externally to other countries, as a result of conflicts, wars, natural disasters, and environmental degradation.

Displacement negatively impacts countries' economies due to pressure on their food, health, and education resources. It also increases the economic cost of relief aid.

Among the solutions presented at the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference were:

The need to integrate immediate relief with economic development programs for host communities, the importance of providing flexible funding to support infrastructure and services in affected countries, engaging the private sector in creating joint job opportunities for displaced persons and host communities, and supporting entrepreneurship projects and economic empowerment for displaced persons.

Why Emdad Participated in DIHAD 2025?

Emdad is primarily a subsidiary of Taqat, a thought leader in humanitarian relief, striving to deliver the fastest and most effective solutions.

Therefore, it is one of the first participants in Dihad 2025 because it believes in the power and effectiveness of humanitarian work and seeks to integrate technology and relief work globally to develop communities and provide aid to countries as quickly as possible.

Population displacement is a multidimensional crisis that cannot be addressed solely from a humanitarian perspective.

Its economic impact is significant, placing pressure on receiving countries and weakening exporting countries.

However, if displacement is properly managed and linked to economic development, it can become an opportunity to promote growth, empower communities, and enhance global human solidarity.

Ultimately, economies can only flourish if policies are designed to protect people first, and human values are the foundation of a country's progress.

Alongside human values, efforts must be made to promote sustainable development in all countries worldwide.
